Counselor Instructions

Are you a Christian counselor in the DFW area?  Join the TBA Counseling Network and have your counselor profile shared with potential clientele.

How does the TBA Counseling Network work, and how does it benefit me?

This site in essence provides a FREE venue for you to make your counseling services known to TBA member churches and the community at large.  Once you are registered as a Counselor, this FREE site allows you to create a Counselor Profile which is viewable to all users on our system; this includes potential clients and church staff persons who may refer clients to you.  Your profile can be found in a link attached to your name in our Counselor Database.  All Counselors and potential clients are also asked to take surveys which will match Counselor services/specialties to Client needs.  In addition to these benefits, the TBA (for our own record-keeping) will notify you two weeks before your license/certification expiration.  This proves to be a helpful reminder to Counselors in danger of forgetting to renew their credentials!

Would you like to be included in our database networking system?

Formerly priced at $250, this website is now a FREE service that we offer to you, our churches, and our community.  To join, please click on the link at the top of the screen and follow the instructions.

In order to provide our users with the best possible service, we request that all Counselors send us copies of license, certification, or other credential certifying eligibility to counsel in the state of Texas. We do not need verification of malpractice insurance; a copy of your license from the Texas State Board of Examiners or the equivalent will suffice as long as there is an expiration date listed.

Your application will not be approved until we have received a copy of your license or other certification.  Each year, all Counselors are to provide us with proof of license or certification renewal no later than the date of expiration. An email reminder will be sent to you two weeks before this deadline.  Once you provide this information, we will update your account.  If the TBA has not received this documentation by the appointed deadlines, your profile will be deleted from the database.

We prefer that all Counselors who join this network profess to be born-again Christians, as this site is an outreach of the TBA's vision statement, "Doing whatever it takes to win Tarrant, and through Tarrant, the world."  Counselors should counsel from a biblical, faith-based perspective.  To find out more about the meaning of this vision statement or what it means to be "born again," you may call our office and any one of our staff would be more than happy to discuss this with you.

Are you interested in partnering with us to provide counseling services to needy persons at a reduced rate?

Please see our Counseling Scholarship page for more information on this ministry.  If you are interested in participating, please indicate this on your profile.

If you recieve referrals through our counseling scholarship program, you will need to indicate the dates of service on the invoice.  We do not require a specific kind of invoice, although we will need the name of the client and the dates of service listed.  You may want to ask your client to sign a release of information waiver in order to provide this information to us as a third-party payer.  We do communicate through email or landline at times regarding verification of client services, which are not perfectly secure means of communication.  In such communications, please share with us only pertinent information regarding client attendance--we do not need to know the details of your clients' issues and additional information could be a breach of confidentiality.  Counselor communication with church staff members who refer clients should also uphold client confidentiality; a release of information waiver may be needed to share information such as client attendance with the referring church staff member.   Regarding such issues of client confidentiality, we encourage you to consult and adhere to the Texas State Board of Examiners Code of Ethics for your particular license and/or the Codes of Ethics of your professional organizations.  For information on referrals for the month of December, please see the Counseling Scholarship page, under the question, "Is there a time limit to the scholarship?"
