If you have any questions, please email frontdesk@tarrantbaptist.org or call 817-927-1911, x 201.
Who can receive a scholarship?
Any individual, couple, or family that is a member of an active Tarrant Baptist Association member church that has turned in its latest Annual Church Profile.
What does the scholarship provide?
Each scholarship provides for 8 sessions of counseling, paid on a rotation basis by the TBA, Church, the Client, and the Counselor, with a maximum payment of $75.00 per session. Once a client is approved for counseling, order of payment proceeds as follows:
- Client pays for first session,
- Church pays for second session,
- Counselor donates third session,
- TBA pays for fourth session,
- Client pays for fifth session,
- Church pays for sixth session,
- Counselor donates seventh session,
- TBA pays for eighth session.
Couples' Counseling: Each scholarship is good for individuals or couples counseling, or any combination of the two--each scholarship covers two sessions of counseling, regardless of the number of people who show up to sessions. If individual counseling is needed for a client attending couples counseling, the referring staff person may refer that individual for a separate scholarship. However, referral does not equal approval for a scholarship, and this policy shall be enforced on a case by case basis.
How does a person get a scholarship?
A current staff member at a TBA church must fill out a referral form (below). A client may not fill out the referral form themselves. A specific counselor from our database must be indicated on the form. An emailed referral will not suffice; the referral needs to be give via the online form below. If a church staff member cannot for some reason use the online form, please call our office. The TBA receives this electronic referral form and then verifies the following:
- Is the church an active member of the TBA?
- Has the church turned in their most recent Annual Church Profile?
- Are there funds in the budget to cover this scholarship?
Once all of the above requirements have been satisfied, the TBA will send a confirmation email* to the church staff person and counselor. It is the church staff person's responsibility to inform the client that they may now make an appointment with the counselor--after receiving the approval email from the TBA. Without the approval email, the client is not approved. The counselor will then send invoices to the appropriate person or entity for each of the eight approved sessions, according to the order of payment listed above.
*Please be aware that electronic communication, such as online forms and emails, should be used cautiously, as they are not impervious to hacking.
How does a church staff person refer a client for a scholarship?
By clicking on the link below, a church staff person can refer a client for a scholarship. Submission of the electronic* referral form does not guarantee approval for a scholarship. The staff person must receive a confirmation email from the TBA that states that the scholarship is approved.
*Please be aware that electronic communication, such as online forms and emails, should be used cautiously, as they are not impervious to hacking.
Can a client receive more than one scholarship per year?
Yes, a client may be able to receive more than one scholarship per year, based on the recommendation of the counselor and church staff person. The Tarrant Baptist Association reserves the right, however, to reserve scholarship funds for those who have not yet received a counseling scholarship. If you are a Church Staff Person and would like to re-refer a client for a second counseling scholarship, please fill out another referral form then call our office at (817) 927-1911, ext. 201.
Is there a time limit for the scholarship?
Yes, there is a time limit. In order to close out our financial books in a timely fashion, we require all all invoices to be submitted to the TBA no later than December 1 of each year. If the client has further need for counseling during the month of December, Counselors may alter the payment order so that the TBA pays earlier than every 4th session. If a client is referred for a scholarship during the month of December, that scholarship may not take effect until January of the next year. It may be possible for the TBA to carry over the scholarship to the next year, but this is not guaranteed for every client. For clarification about such special situations, please contact our office. Exceptions to the time limit for the scholarship are handled on a case by case basis.
